Fireside Chat at Harley-Davidson Offers Advice to Women Entrepreneurs

Milwaukee, WI - Enterforce President and CEO Marie O’Brien, The Anderson Group President and Owner Jennifer Hansen, and Founder and Director of Physical Therapy of Milwaukee Dr. Sylvestra Ramirez were recognized as top women entrepreneurs at the 1st Annual WBDC Fireside Chat. The event, held at Harley-Davidson headquarters, was hosted by the Women’s Business Development Center, a non-profit organization that provides programming, resources and consulting support to WBE (Woman Business Enterprise)-certified businesses in the Midwest region.

Moderated by UPAF Chief Development Officer Sandy Wysocki (formerly of the Milwaukee Business Journal), the three panelists spoke about their road to success, advice for start-up business owners, and the effect of mentors on their careers. Said Marie O’Brien, “True entrepreneurship begins when you create a solution that was previously nonexistent. Stay focused on the solution and continually challenge the status quo.” After the event, attendees were encouraged to stay for a networking reception, where they could share best practices and seek out future partnerships with other WBE-certified businesses.

This was the fourth in a series of regional Fireside Chats as part of the WBDC’s 30th Anniversary Celebration. Other events were held in Minneapolis, Kansas City and St. Louis.
